Please note that you can now buy your duck for the exciting and fun DUCK RACE through Ticket Tailor. Because this is a fundraiser, ducks are available at a donation of £5 per duck - throw it in on Crispin's shout and watch it careering down the weir, biffing other ducks out of the way. Cheer it on as it madly scrambles for first place. Will yours win?
All ducks have names of famous politicians, which name will you be cheering? There will be a few larger ducks available for a separate race on the night. This includes 'Margaret Thatcher' and there may be a new 'Boris Johnson' duck. These larger ducks cost £10, so bring some cash on the night - there are only a few of them.
Further details: Please note that timings are approximate. Canapés: Will be served from 6 pm until the start of the duck races. Drinks: Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be served all evening. Following the free drinks, there will be a pay bar.
Duck races: Starting time approximately 6.30-6.45pm. There will be three races (two small duck races and a large duck race) and the winners will compete in a final race using the same size ducks for the prize. As stated, entry to the small duck race costs £5 and can be pre-booked via the link above by selecting the appropriate option from the drop-down menu. Entry to the large duck race will be available on the day.
Children's duck race: This will take place prior to the adults' races, providing we have children attending the party. The winner will receive a prize presented by Dr Ben Mearns, Chairman.
Auction: Please note that the start time will depend on the duck races. This lively event will be a fast auction conducted, as far as possible, like a real one! Have fun, put in a bid, wave your arms around - but remember, like a real auction the buyer is committed to buy!
Raffle: We will give you an idea of prizes nearer the time.
We want this to be a fun event where we can meet up for the first time in over a year. Please note that if you need a chair, although some will be available, you may bring your own garden chair and if necessary we can bring canapés and drinks to you. If you need to go into the house and you still feel happier wearing a mask, just pop one in your pocket and bring it with you. You can bring your own small hand sanitiser if you wish but we will make sure one if available by the drinks' table.
Please note that, as it states on the flyer, parents should be advised that there is a weir, a fast moving stream and a pond at the bottom of the garden. Therefore we would ask any parent bringing their child to bear this in mind as we do not have staff available to keep a watch on children and this will be the parents' responsibility. Children are, however, really welcome and I am sure that they will enjoy their own duck race and cheering the adults on.
Parking is extremely limited and most visitors park on the opposite side of the road or there are other roads nearby. We hope to have someone guiding the parking. Please car-share if at all possible. We hope to see you there!
