Barbara Thomson has been a resident of Earlswood and Whitebushes for the last 10 years, Borough Councillor for her area since 2007, and was elected as County Councillor for the Earlswood & Reigate South division in 2013.
Born in London Barbara moved to Whitebushes 10 years ago she has five children, six granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.
Barbara has worked tirelessly for the community both before she became an elected Councillor and afterwards. She works part-time in Reigate as an office manager.
Barbara has been involved in many community projects over the years working in partnership with Raven Housing, Southern Housing and London and Quadrant all other social landlords in the Ward and Surrey Police.
She has supported her residents in various planning issues, anti-social behaviour and many, many more local issues. She attends all the Neighbourhood Panel meetings and is always ready to support residents.
Barbara has been instrumental in conjunction with Surrey Police in setting up youth clubs in Salfords, Brambletye School and Whitebushes Village Hall. She also has raised monies and takes children from the area on various activities during the long school breaks ie multisports, horseriding etc. This helps decrease anti-social behaviour within the community during these long breaks from school.
In the last few years she has been working tireless with Surrey County Council to improve the highway conditions in the area and continues to support East Surrey hospital.
